Significant Career Lesson From a Title Metadata Analyst at NBCUniversal

Tanya's most significant career lesson is prioritizing a positive work environment over salary: "Find the right people to work with. Find a good environment," and looking for a "positive atmosphere" during the interview process by asking insightful questions about team dynamics and the overall work vibe proved crucial in securing a fulfilling role at NBCUniversal.

What is one lesson that you have learned that has proven significant in your career?

I've already mentioned this in earlier questions, but the key is to find the right people to work with. Find a good environment.

If you're somewhere where they get annoyed with you for asking questions, or if you're in a place where you don't feel welcomed, it's not worth being there. When you go in for interviews, try to get a sense of the vibe the person is giving off.

Ask the right questions: "What do you expect of me in this role?" "Describe a typical day for me in this role." Ask about the work environment and if the team works well together.

When I interviewed with NBCU, I remember my boss. When I first met her, she had this beautiful energy. I felt welcomed and that she just gave off positive energy. Look for that.

Don't bother with toxic environments. Leave if you can and try to find the right environment for you. Don't focus on the money; the money will come. Don't think about the salary.

Look for a positive atmosphere. That's really important. It does make a big difference.
