What entry-level positions are there in this field that an undergraduate college student might consider?

If you're in marketing or community, there are coordinator jobs. I was a marketing coordinator before my social media manager role. Sometimes people start as a Discord mod and then level up to be a community manager within Discord.

In my case, I pivoted into social media and marketing. The beauty of working in tech startups is that there are many opportunities to develop your skills and experience new fields. For example, when I was a marketing coordinator at Meet Those Studios, I got to do product testing with the product team, which I really enjoyed. It was fun just testing for bugs.

Even if you don't always have the skillsets for a particular role, opportunities can open up within an entry-level job. You might discover you enjoy something you didn't expect.

Depending on the job, community managers sometimes just ask for some experience and awareness of how to set things up. When it comes to marketing coordinator, let's take a step back.

In entertainment, when people are starting out, they usually intern at a company, like at Dreamworks. They would then transition into an assistant or coordinator role. Sometimes, with an agency, they start as an assistant and work their way up.

In tech and Web3, I love that as long as you have the energy, drive, and ambition to learn how it runs, you can succeed. I once hired someone primarily because I liked their personality and vibe, and that's the energy I needed in the Discord.

For people entering Web3 and tech, don't feel like you need a million years of experience. Sometimes, it's just about having the energy, confidence, and ambition to learn something and run with it. It's okay to be scared; you won't know everything, but the willingness to learn is key.

This is why people can land good roles with good pay. Sometimes it's not the background, but the energy and personality that matters. Discord mods or community managers sometimes ask for one year of experience, as does a marketing coordinator. These roles are out there; it just requires a bit of digging.
