What have you learned about this role that you wish someone had told you before you entered the industry?

I'd say there are two main points here. First, a lot of my role involves external communication and selling a story. Initially, I thought I needed to present it a certain way, perhaps mirroring how others pitched it.

However, over time, I realized it's more effective to use your own philosophy and methods. What comes from the heart and feels natural is far more authentic than a rigid, structured process.

The second point relates to finance and accounting, specifically risk management. It's crucial in a CFO role to trust your team's ability to identify key organizational risks.

You need proactive individuals who are actively seeking out potential risks, rather than passively waiting. Without the right talent internally, a CFO can face significant challenges.
