What do you enjoy most about being in your industry?
Our industry is essentially a private equity firm. We compete against other private equity firms, even though we are not a private equity firm, but rather a public entity.
What I enjoy most about it is that there are highly intelligent people here. When you consider who has the intellectual capabilities to analyze a company, go through the contractual process of buying it, and then monitor it over a five to ten year period, set the strategy, invest in the business, and make those types of capital and capital allocation decisions, it requires a very high intellect.
I get the benefit of working alongside some of the smartest people on the planet. These are people who have come from top schools and have been investment bankers. They've spent time doing this before coming to Compass.
I think that's the best part of being in the industry: the caliber of human capital talent that exists here.
