What are your main responsibilities within your role?
I own my own law firm, and I am a business attorney. Specifically, I work with consultants, coaches, and strategists. These are people who have gained knowledge and expertise in areas like marketing, psychological safety in the workplace, and advising college students on rest and mental health practices. They teach others what they know or help organizations improve on a business or personal front.
My main work includes drafting contracts, which I love. That's my bread and butter. Nobody can draft a contract better than me. I know that sounds nerdy, but when you're good at what you do, you enjoy it.
I also help people protect their intellectual property, specifically trademarks. I assist my clients in filing trademark applications so they can protect their brand and presence in the marketplace. These are the things people identify them by, like the Nike Swoosh or the name Nike itself. Nike is not my client, just a disclaimer, but that's the idea.
That's the main part of my work: advising my clients and making sure they stay protected. My approach is unique because I want protection to tie into their goals. Most people think protection is just about avoiding trouble or lawsuits.
However, it's really about having your ducks in a row so you can achieve the next level of business growth. If you want to scale from selling a hundred products a month to a hundred thousand, or if you want to hire team members, all of those actions require you to be protected. I want my clients to ensure they have that foundation first, so they can grow the way they intend.
