What's your biggest challenge in your role?
It's not even the attorney part; it's the business owner part that brings the biggest challenge. Business ownership is 10% operations doing the work and 90% confidence, mental mindset, all of that. It's really being able to get out of your own way so that you can rise to the next level.
Even though I'm a bomb business owner and a bomb attorney, I know there are still obstacles. I know I'm still getting in my own way in certain areas. Sometimes it takes hiring a coach, seeing a therapist, or hiring a consultant to make you take a look at the big picture. They can show you where you're holding yourself back.
We have to unlearn so many things. When I say "we," I mean business owners but also adults. We grow up believing certain things about how life is supposed to work. We struggle in adulthood because we have to grapple with the fact that our expectations don't match reality for this season of life.
This creates a lot of turmoil, and you get in your own way. It's about recognizing when you are getting in your own way without realizing it and then learning what needs to happen to get out of it. This doesn't happen just once; it happens over and over.
It becomes easier to recognize, but that challenge will always be there. However, you become a better business owner for it, and a better person overall.
