What did you do in undergrad to set you up for success in your career?

I would say the most successful thing I did was have a mentor. I don't necessarily mean the same mentor I had in college up until now.

The idea and concept of mentorship, how to have a relationship like that, started for me in college. It started with my advisor, and I realized how helpful it was.

What if I could do this in my career, or have that same type of presence for all the life challenges that college doesn't necessarily prepare you for? It just kind of drops you off a cliff.

Having a mentor and nurturing that relationship, letting it evolve as I evolved as an adult, really helped me with my career. A great mentor helps you see into the future and saves you from many costly mistakes.

It also saves you from unnecessary, costly purchases, especially when you get your first big paycheck. So, I would say that has probably set me up for success, not just career-wise, but life-wise and personally.
