What do you enjoy most about being in your current role?
What I enjoy most about my role is the wide variety of projects I work on. Each day is different with regard to the projects I'm currently working on. The types of projects I have worked on include residential, commercial, industrial, and public infrastructure.
This includes broadband, infrastructure pipelines, and public parks, as well as renewable energy and mixed-use development. Each project comes with its own set of challenges and problems to solve. It's important to identify the project type before starting on the environmental compliance document.
It's also very rewarding to work on a project you're passionate about and see it come to fruition. I work on several park projects within Sacramento County and Northern California. It's exciting to see these parks come to life and have the neighborhood enjoy their new landscape.
I'm also working on expanding broadband infrastructure or internet connection to more rural counties within California. This is very helpful for improving telecommuting, telehealth, and working remotely. I find it rewarding to work on a project that helps people in California.
I also enjoy the team I work with. Everyone on my team comes with their own background and ideas. When it comes to adaptability and problem-solving, I work with folks who have been in the industry for many years and those who have just started.
I learn so much from my managers and technical specialists who have worked on hundreds of projects with varying environmental compliance documents. Everyone at Helix is so knowledgeable and open to answering questions I may have.
I have weekly check-in meetings with my internal Helix team. We communicate what projects we are currently working on and what projects might be in the pipeline. We also discuss project workload to ensure we are all busy but not overwhelmed.
We are all willing to help each other out if something comes up that needs more attention. We actively communicate our project needs with one another.
