As someone who identifies as a veteran, how has that impacted how you navigate your career?

Identifying as a veteran has had a couple of different impacts on my career. Firstly, I think it gives a certain level of respect.

I've noticed people give a certain level of difference and respect to me when I've mentioned my previous military background, which I think is interesting and nice to hear.

Secondly, I think it's also had an impact on my career in that it's caused a little bit of friction in my transition from a military role into something completely unrelated to the military. I had to learn how to navigate that and translate my experience into a relevant civilian job.

So, both good and bad, but both learning experiences.
