What a Senior Analyst Strategy and Analytics at SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park wishes they had known before entering the Data Analytics industry

Jeff wishes someone had emphasized the collaborative nature of the industry and the importance of asking questions, stating "it's okay to feel like you don't understand something" and that "people are generally willing to help," especially when dealing with complex data analysis tools like SQL. Essentially, a key takeaway is that success in this role is not a solo endeavor, but a team effort where seeking guidance is encouraged and supported.

What have you learned about this role that you wish someone would've told you before you entered the industry?

I would say that it's not all on you. With some of my other questions, I know I've mentioned team a lot.

I feel like when you work in these types of industries, it's very team-focused. Everyone understands that it's challenging, and they've all been in your position before. They can relate to some extent of what you're going through.

It's okay to ask questions, and it's okay to feel like you don't understand something, especially when working with data. It's like learning an entire new language. It's called SQL, structured query language, and it's a whole other language. You're talking to a computer; you're not going to know everything.

No one is essentially an expert, but there are resources and people out there who can help you answer questions. You should never feel afraid to ask. When you're struggling to find answers, people are generally willing to help.
