What do you enjoy most about your industry?
I would say I enjoy working with the people that I do. Many people say that in different industries, but those who work in sports usually don't do it just for a great paycheck or benefits.
It's because they are genuinely passionate about working there. So people seek out these jobs, and employers in this industry have the power to say they have many candidates and can pay less than the same rate in a different industry doing essentially the same work.
The people who land these jobs differentiate themselves by being very driven and passionate about what they do. They enjoy all the aspects that come with working in the sports industry.
For example, many data analysts work nine to five, Monday through Friday. I'm in a unique position where I can attend all these events, whether working them or as a guest.
I experience different hours and perspectives. When I was working with E15, one day I passed out donuts to the staff working in the stands, arriving six hours before the game even started. Doing things like that gives me variability in my daily work as an analyst.
