How would you describe people who typically thrive in this industry?

Typically, people who thrive in this industry fall into one of two categories. It's always a bit more complex than this, but generally speaking, there are two main types of individuals.

One type is the extremely technical, smart person. Think of someone on a detective show, rapidly typing on a computer to solve a case – that's the kind of technical whiz I mean.

The other type is someone with excellent people skills. They might not be as technical, but they know how to find the answers. They know who to bring in to get that information, and they can make commitments. These individuals are friendly, energetic, and excited about learning new things.

I believe it's usually one of those two types of people. It's very rare to find someone who embodies both qualities. If you are that rare individual, you'll likely go far. However, if you fit into either of these two categories, you can certainly have a very successful career.
