What do you enjoy most about being in your industry?
In my industry, I have a bit of a double answer. I'm in it, but I'm also in the utility space. I've always liked technology, learning new things, and seeing where things are headed.
I enjoy making things easier and improving the end user experience, making their lives better. What I really like about the utility space is thinking beyond my immediate colleagues.
When I consider the end user, the IT work I do to keep their devices running ultimately helps those working in the field. It supports a troubleshooter on a line or someone visiting a house to check equipment.
At the end of the day, it's about providing an essential resource like energy and utilities. This ensures people's lights and stoves work, allowing them to eat and keep food cold. PG&E provides such an important service.
It's easy to forget this in an office setting, but I take a lot of pride in working for a company that provides such an essential part of people's lives. Those are the two main areas I focus on.
