What is one lesson you have learned that has proven significant in your career?
The main lesson has been that you are the only boss you'll have for the rest of your life. Every time you enter a new role, you'll have a new supervisor or colleagues, but you are the one who really needs to push yourself if you want to grow in your career.
I have taken every opportunity I possibly can in career development and learning. Every single time I'm presented with something that I don't fully understand, I will either consider possible training that I can do on the job or look up a YouTube video on it after work.
That type of motivation and determination is really what sets you apart. Someone could have the exact same role as you for three years, and you will be the person who will be set up for really growing. You'll have opportunities to completely pivot your career or take on a whole new advanced role.
This is if you've been the one putting in the work to push yourself and prepare yourself for something new. So, be your own boss. Push yourself, but also give yourself grace.
