What do you enjoy most about being in your industry?
In the HR industry, I really enjoy the communication aspect of my position. I got my bachelor's in communication at Cal Lutheran, and throughout all those programs, we always talked about how to interact with different types of people. We learned different strategies to do that, whether it's a marketing strategy to communicate via social media or print ads, or if it's one-on-one communication in a meeting or over an email.
The whole part of my industry is really big on communication, and that also translates into local government. You have to communicate with the public all the time. The public has a property right to apply for different positions here at the County of Ventura because we are based on the merit system. They have that opportunity to compete for positions.
So you want to be able to communicate with them the best that you can and set them up for success. Having that communication foundation in our industry has been super exciting for me because that is my area of passion. I love to do that sort of stuff.
