What skills are most important for a job like yours?
I think I touched on that in my last response. I would say time and task management is key. This includes knowing how to prioritize, setting expectations with those working with or under you, and ensuring you meet the expectations you've set for them.
If you have the responsibility to compile all the parts, then time and task management is crucial. This involves making accurate lists and keeping a record of the steps needed to complete a project. Many projects take multiple days or even weeks, and it's your responsibility to keep the team on pace and schedule.
Ensure expectations and instructions are clear. Be available to help your team resolve any misunderstandings or developments that arise. You start with the client request or court demand and must ensure the team delivers by the required date.
I believe that is the most important skill. A very related skill for my particular job is ambition and drive. You need to go out and meet people and clients, putting yourself out there.
You cannot be a shrinking violet in this profession. You have to go outside your comfort zone. All successful attorneys I know are involved in the community and socially. They meet people every day who are potential clients.
