Significant Career Lesson From An Owner At Precision Cosmetics

Camille, a medical spa owner with a corporate background, recommends entry-level positions like "front desk coordination" or assisting injectors to gain practical experience in medical aesthetics. This hands-on approach, which Camille lacked, would provide valuable knowledge of "appointment systems" and "inventory tracking," giving aspiring medical spa professionals a significant advantage.

Transcript

What entry-level positions are there in this field that an undergraduate college student might consider?

If someone wants to work at or own a med spa, I really do think interning or doing front desk coordination would be beneficial. Even if you want to be an injector, assisting someone who does injectables would help you understand the ins and outs of a medical spa.

I came from corporate and didn't have a beauty industry background. While my business background helped, it would have been even more beneficial if I had worked at a med spa. This would have given me a grasp on things like appointment systems and inventory tracking.

I've really had to learn a lot of these aspects from the ground up. My husband and I essentially had to learn everything from scratch. So, if you want to get into medical aesthetics, I do think interning at a med spa or applying for a front desk coordinator position is a great idea. You will learn so much, especially from the backend of the business.
