What did you do in your undergrad to set you up for success in your career?
That's also a good question. Internships do help, don't get me wrong.
This might not be the most common answer, but studying abroad honestly helped me for my life in general. I moved to Sweden by myself when I was 19 and spent an entire semester there. I didn't know anyone, I didn't know the language, and I moved halfway across the world.
That experience of just being by yourself and having to navigate things and figure things out at such a young age prepared me for other things in life. I learned more about myself and life in those six to seven months than I did in a lot of college classes.
Academics and internships are great, but putting yourself in a situation where you have to figure everything out on your own builds life skills that help you later down the line. Applying things in real life and learning about other cultures really helped me grow up a lot, and that's helped me surprisingly a lot in my career.
Studying abroad is also really fun. Even if someone doesn't have the opportunity to study abroad, taking a summer and traveling by yourself builds good life lessons for your future.
