What do you enjoy most about being a director of sales?
That's a great question. I've been lucky to have a few mentors in my life. I've also often asked them that same question: what did you enjoy the most when you look back on your career?
I even asked my father this recently. What did you enjoy the most? What do you miss the most when you retire or leave that career? Nine times out of ten, the answer is the people that I got to work with.
So, if you're interviewing for a job, ask yourself: are these people I'll enjoy being around? Each job and each point in your life will be different, but it's not always about the business itself.
This work is really fun. It's fast-paced and challenging, but it's the people that I get to work with that I enjoy the most. Quite honestly, I've been at a company now for quite a while, and a big reason I've stayed is my colleagues.
I've gotten to know them, become friends with them, and I really enjoy just working and collaborating with them. Beyond that, I'm really fortunate in my career now that I get to return the favor and mentor some people. I really enjoy helping others.
That's part of the reason I'm doing this call today – to help other people on their career path and in their life, to find meaning and find success.
