What did you do in your undergrad to set you up for success in your career?
I tried many different things. I also added two minors: communications and journalism/PR. Through my coursework, I got a taste of different areas.
My internships and other jobs allowed me to dabble in different fields. Even though I wanted to go into sports, I explored marketing and customer experience within that industry. These roles showed me different areas, and I had fun and learned a lot.
I also took a PR internship. Even though I initially wanted to focus on sports, taking a role in a different field truly led me to where I am today. I realized at the end of my college career that I hadn't really tried PR, which was something I wanted to explore.
This led me to my current career path. My schoolwork and experiences complemented each other, setting me up for success. I can say I tried different things and found what I really enjoyed.
Many people struggle with figuring out what they want to do. I feel I got lucky because it came easier to me, but that was because I tried so many different things. This allowed me to see my industry from different perspectives, solidifying my passion for PR.
