What entry-level positions are there in this field that an undergraduate college student might consider pursuing?

That's a great question. Delta has some great entry-level roles in the Commercial organization, which are ideal for recent college graduates.

For instance, their Revenue Management Department hires many undergraduates directly from college each year. These roles offer a structured environment that allows you to learn about the business from a fundamental perspective. You'll understand supply and demand and how it drives airline revenue.

If performance and client interaction aren't your primary interests, there are also excellent roles in sales, particularly field sales or corporate sales development. These positions are available at Delta and other airlines.

Many people move into these roles and find them very beneficial for understanding the business from a commercial level.

Even if you're interested in getting started during college, Delta and other airlines have co-op or part-time programs. You could work at the airport, perhaps at the ticket desk, or even become a flight attendant. These experiences can provide valuable insight into the industry, potentially leading to more commercial or corporate roles.
