What are your main responsibilities within your current role as a sourcing manager?
I manage a subset of ingredient categories at our business. Think of reading the back of a label; all sorts of ingredients go into food products.
Our team works upstream with research and development teams on new product development. We recommend raw material suppliers and specific ingredients, ensuring scalable, cost-effective solutions very far upstream.
We then manage that supplier relationship and ingredient all the way downstream to day-to-day supply management. If something doesn't go as planned, I'm the first person contacted.
For example, if sunflower oil doesn't show up in the right amount at the right time at a plant, I get the call asking why. We also work with legal on contracts and finance teams on pricing negotiations.
