What does a day in the life of an Assistant Vice President of Institutional Business look like?
My day involves managing a team of about 80 people on the risk side. From a risk manager's perspective, there's a lot of day-to-day approval work.
I'm fully licensed, holding a day-to-day license, a supervisory license, and an MBA. These qualifications help with my daily responsibilities.
There's a significant people leadership component. Although we don't directly manage HR for the representatives, we work closely with service leadership managers. We constantly collaborate and receive requests for mentorship and career advice.
We currently have an open position, and I believe we've received about 10 applications. I've been having many one-on-one meetings with individuals seeking advice on how to enter this field.
Additionally, there are many large-scale projects and strategic initiatives. We are a relatively new department, established just a few years ago, so there's a lot of development happening. That's probably one aspect of the role I enjoy the most.
