What do you enjoy most about being in the education industry?

I love education because I am a lifelong learner. Being in this environment feels like being in a classroom for me, as there are so many activities and opportunities to learn different things.

I'm not only learning about student challenges and how to resolve them, but I'm also attending conferences and book signings. We have speaker series on building inclusive environments and working to eliminate racism and biases on our campus.

I am the vice president for RAiSE, which is a professional development association for staff here at OZAK. We are always looking for ways to build community, not only for the students but also for faculty and staff to support each other.

Sometimes I am seen as a mentor for those newer in their careers, looking for ways to advance and promote within the organization. I have been working for 41 years, and I'm able to share what I've learned along the way with people here.
