What does a day in the life of a finance manager look like on a day-to-day basis?

On a day-to-day basis, my job has a bit of a structure. When we look at a financial cycle, there's a forecast process. Around the first week of the month, we forecast for the next month and the next year.

This includes financial performance, such as revenue and costs for the organization. Part of that is also cyclical when we review business results with our partners. We ensure our business operators understand what is driving the business.

We ask if there are things we can change or do immediately to affect positive change. Are we trying to drive more revenue and reduce costs?

Some of the day-to-day responsibilities involve working with different partners to strategize the long-term plan. We have short-term goals for the fiscal year, but we also consider how our current actions affect decisions for the next five years.

As a finance manager, I dig into the details to ensure we have the numbers to back our recommendations and support business decisions, challenges, and opportunities.
