What do you enjoy most about being in your current role?
In my current role, I get to play Foursquare with really cool kids every day. I think that's wonderful.
I get to hang out with some of my favorite people all day long, and that's wonderful. I get to see how they progress through a year. This year, I'm what's called "looping" with my kids.
So, the same kids that I taught in first grade, I'm teaching in second grade. We know each other incredibly well, and that's a privilege not many people get in their jobs. I feel very fortunate to have it.
I also really enjoy problem-solving. Such a huge part of teaching is problem-solving. Either why students aren't learning, why lessons aren't hitting, or sometimes why they are. That's really fun.
I really enjoy the collaboration I have with my colleagues in order to solve those problems. Anytime we get really smart, interesting, passionate people together, like magic happens. I'm fortunate that I get to experience that pretty frequently.
