Q11: Significant lesson - career
A significant lesson I've learned in my career is the importance of being passionate about your work. Previously, I was in an industry I wasn't connected with, and I didn't feel fulfilled. This affected my personal life as well.
Transitioning to my current role has been a great fit. I'm now a hundred percent confirmed that this is what I want to do. I've been doing this for quite some time, and every day I'm happy to come to work.
I love the work I do, the people I collaborate with, and the mission I have here. It truly makes a difference in your overall quality of life. When I graduated college during COVID, I just needed a job and wasn't sure of my career path yet.
It made sense that I wouldn't have stayed in that initial role long-term. Connecting with career counselors at my alma mater helped me find a role that was a good fit for me. The impact this has had on my personal life is astounding.
I'm incredibly happy, perhaps sounding overly enthusiastic, but I haven't been this happy in a long time. I've been in a consistently good mood since starting this job. It's not just the colleagues or the students; it's the mission.
You feel energized by the end of the day. Even though I might be exhausted from talking, I'm still excited to do it again the next day. This makes such an impact on your overall quality of life when you're passionate about what you do.
