As someone who identifies as a student athlete, how has that impacted how you navigate your career?

This was a difficult thing. I loved being a student athlete, but after competing my entire life, putting 20, 30, or 40 hours a week into being a student athlete and working on the craft of something that I loved, hanging up my cleats after graduation brought the question: what do I do next?

I identified as a student athlete, and now I needed to figure out the next phase of my career. It took some time to understand what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go.

A nice thing about being a student athlete looking for that next opportunity is that you develop great skill sets, like being a team player and a great communicator. People will also likely see you as a disciplined person because you went to weightlifting, practice, and games.

Even if you don't have a complete understanding of where you're trying to go, it's a great thing to use as a resume builder, networking opportunity, and career growth opportunity. You've developed the skill sets for the next phase of your career, even if you haven't had specific experience in the industry you're looking to enter.
