What is one lesson you have learned that has proven significant in your career?

In my career, my goal was to obtain a well-rounded marketing portfolio of experience. That meant I had to go to different companies, different brands, and different roles within marketing to be more well-rounded.

My approach was to do this long-term and eventually become a Chief Marketing Officer, or CMO, ideally of a larger company. I was part of a startup and I've held VP and director level jobs, but it's important to be well-rounded.

Don't just focus on social media; do that, but also explore many other areas of strategy within the field of marketing. If you want to excel, be more well-rounded. Explore other areas that can make you the guru or expert in your field.

This will help you up your scale and up your game to become a more sought-after candidate for a job or to eventually be better in your trade. Make sure you explore the best possible ways to be a well-rounded finance person, supply chain management person, or marketing person.

Even if you're a STEM person or a chemist, consider what it requires for you to be a more well-rounded individual. Understanding the bigger scope of your industry or trade is crucial.
