Could you walk me through your career path? Please start with your experiences in college, any internships, or jobs you had before your current role as production coordinator.
In college, I majored in journalism and was involved in a lot of media-related activities. I was an opinion writer, a news anchor and DJ for the radio, and an editorial writer for Her Campus. I also worked on the Women in Business publication.
During my junior year, I became the content manager for our on-campus radio station, KCPR. I managed their online publication and edited their written content. The following year, as editor-in-chief of the entire media group, I oversaw the newspaper, radio station, affiliated websites, and business operations.
While in these leadership roles, I also continued writing and doing radio. After graduating, I interned at Sirius XM as a producer assistant for the talk radio show, The Jess Cagle Show. This was an interview-based show, and it was my second time having that internship.
Following my Sirius XM internship, I moved to Washington D.C. for an associate producer role on a political radio show. I didn't enjoy that experience, so I changed direction. I had been emailing radio stations and podcasts, aiming for a career in audio entertainment.
This led me to my current role as a production coordinator for the podcast "Girls Gotta Eat." I also did some work for KCBX, another local station in SLO, during college. Additionally, I completed social media internships and did some freelance work for small companies.
Ultimately, Sirius XM, KCPR, and Mustang News were significant experiences during college. Now, I'm working with "Girls Gotta Eat."
