What specifically helped prepare you for your career as an international student?

Prior internships and work experience are the biggest advantages any international student can bring when starting a career in the U.S. More importantly, while you're in school and nearing graduation, it's crucial to start applying for jobs.

This can be anything from a part-time job to an internship, but getting your foot in the door is important. Of course, studies are always important, as they build the skills you'll bring to the workforce and give you an edge.

Engaging with professors and fellow classmates is also very important. As I've said in most of my interviews, communication is a significant part of it. People from different cultures may not be accustomed to how local communities communicate.

Your college experience serves as an introduction to the country you're entering. Engaging the people around you will help you understand the community you're about to join and start your career in the United States.
