What entry-level positions are there in this field that an undergraduate college student might consider?
I would say there are a lot of data analytics jobs out there, especially at entry level. There are jobs from data mining, basically learning to work with data.
There are even roles like data visualization that you can start in and get into. Basically, anything that gives you exposure to business operations is a good one.
This is because most companies right now deal with technology, and if they deal with technology, they deal with data. So any sort of field where you're working in operations, like operations analytics or business analytics, those are good first steps.
A business analyst is always a very popular and common first step. That's another way to get your foot in the door.
