What skills are most important for a job like yours?
I would say the most important skill is to be very detail-oriented and very organized because you can have a lot of things happening at the same time. If you are organized, you will be able to learn to know what to prioritize and what not to prioritize.
Also, being very inquisitive is key. The job requires a lot of problem-solving skills. Part of that is wanting to understand things, questioning things, and asking the right questions. That's a very important skill on this job.
But that comes with experience. The first step to learn how to ask the right questions is to put in the effort to learn the subject matter. In the data governance field, you're not expected to be a banking expert.
A bank is very large; you do a lot of different things. You cannot be an expert in everything, but you deal with all sorts of data. You have to be very open to learning different things about how loans work or how securities work and all these other things. Once you start learning things, you learn to ask the right questions and drive the solutioning into the right path.
