Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experiences in college and any internships or jobs you had before your current role?
I went to Arizona State University, where I majored in finance and real estate. Afterward, I earned my master's in finance from the University of Miami.
While at Arizona State, I completed internships in real estate development, working as an analyst. This provided me with strong analytical skills and knowledge of financial models, helping me determine if deals were viable. I believe these internships contributed to my acceptance into graduate school.
At the University of Miami, I focused intensely on finance, particularly private equity. Although I initially aimed for a career in private equity after graduation, I ended up working in a funds of funds role. While not exactly the same niche, it shared significant similarities, primarily involving numbers.
After completing my master's at the University of Miami, I moved to New York and began working at SkyBridge Capital. My responsibilities included fundraising for our private equity fund and managing client relationships. My primary focus, however, was fundraising for the fund at SkyBridge.
Later, I transitioned to the investment team, aspiring to become a portfolio manager. I began studying for the CFA exams but failed Level I twice. During this time, in 2023, I noticed a significant shift from traditional finance to crypto over the past few years.
This led me to start exploring the crypto space. I realized I was more interested in crypto than traditional finance and began educating myself. I even took an independently funded course to deepen my understanding.
This knowledge allowed me to engage in crypto-related deals at my previous job. I also started working with other companies through my role, which is how I met the founder of Proppy, a prop tech company. I developed a strong relationship with the founder and subsequently joined Proppy as Vice President of Business Development after my time at SkyBridge. I am currently working at Proppy.
