Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experiences in college? Any internships or jobs you had before your current role?
Sure. I studied theater and psychology in college. I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do exactly, and I did theater as a hobby in high school, so I decided to study theater. My mom said I needed a backup plan, so I minored in psychology.
COVID happened when I was in college, so I didn't get to study abroad, which I really wanted to do. After graduating, I decided to go abroad and did an internship program in Israel. There, I worked in event planning and marketing.
Still, I didn't really know what I wanted to do, as neither of those fields resonated with me. While I was there, I witnessed a guy on a lime scooter get hit by a car and fall on his head, bleeding. In that moment, my instinct was to rush to him and help.
I didn't really know what to do, but it made me think I might be interested in the medical field. I've always been interested in medicine, but I struggled a little with comprehension and focus, later finding out I have ADHD.
I went home and completed an accelerated EMT course. After that, I started working as an EMT, including on an ambulance. Then I decided I wanted to work in a more clinical setting, so I got a position as a medical assistant, where I'm currently working and get to see patients.
