What did you do in undergrad to set you up for success in your career?

I'd say I was very engaged in all of my classes. Most of us find out once we graduate that our full-time job is not very in line with the books we're reading or the tests we're taking in college. It's really where the rubber meets the road.

But I think just learning to be engaged and not afraid to ask questions will translate to pretty much any career you do thereafter. I also think joining a club, for example, the Real Estate club at Cal Poly, was super beneficial for me.

It allowed me to go and do corporate tours and visit certain offices in San Francisco, or meet with certain people and make those connections. Later on, you don't know, COVID might hit your senior year and you might need some other options. Having those connections is always beneficial.

You never know how long you're going to be with a certain company or where other people are going to go. So, just always making good connections and showing yourself in a positive light – I think those are all just positive things you can do early on to set yourself up for success.
