What do you enjoy most about being in your industry?
I'm relatively new to construction, having been in the industry for about three years now. Though I've been in HR for over 12 years, what I find most interesting about construction is how it touches every aspect of society.
Consider the homes we live in, the streets we drive on, and the buildings where we work and our children attend school. The ability to take blueprints and create a physical building, structure, road, or utility system is fascinating.
This industry impacts every aspect of our daily lives, whether we realize it or not. There are the high-rise buildings that grab attention, but also the essential utilities and foundations of parking structures and roads. It's truly a critical and evolving industry.
Technology is forcing construction to change, and with that comes a more diverse perspective. The industry can have a reputation for being antiquated, but in my three years, I've seen it constantly evolving and adapting.
More women and diverse perspectives are entering the industry, which has helped with the adaptation of technology and the progress of the industry. This progress must keep pace with the demand of our infrastructure and society. It's a fascinating, constantly changing, and evolving industry, forcing leaders to do the same.
