What do you enjoy most about being in your current role?
In my current role as Chief Product Officer, I'd say the most significant aspect is the amount of customer interaction. We get to talk to customers and truly understand their real problems.
For software in general, over my career, one thing I've always enjoyed is the variety. Software can quite literally take you anywhere. I've gone from situations where we were considering people in their homes interacting with a device, to the med tech space.
We were actually in a malaria lab and met a scientist who grows mosquitoes with malaria. It was wild, but it illustrates how software can transport you to all sorts of places and industries. This is because software is now integrated into every business.
As we focus more on efficiencies and smart technologies, the need for software development and developers will only grow. If you want to learn about a different industry or domain, the opportunities are open.
It's fantastic for those who enjoy continuous learning. Technology is always evolving, and if you become bored with one industry, you can easily transition to another. You get to experience different types of people, places, and things while providing high value. You bring a technological perspective and show how it can make a difference in various areas.
