Transcript

What are your main responsibilities within your current role?

As an environmental planner at an environmental consulting firm, we help clients navigate the regulatory process. This includes federal, state, and local regulations required for their proposed projects.

Our work ranges from renewable energy projects and transmission lines to mining and restoration projects. Essentially, we assist with anything that requires permitting and ensure compliance with all regulations.

My main role is as a National Environmental Policy Act planner, focusing on the federal side. The primary documents we produce are environmental assessments and environmental impact statements.

These are extensive disclosure documents that detail potential environmental and cultural resource impacts from a project. Our staff spends considerable time on technical writing, which is where I focus most of my efforts.

However, I also serve as an assistant project manager on several projects. This involves client communication, logistics, scheduling, and budget management. My role includes guiding clients through the necessary steps and ensuring they provide accurate information about their projects.

Some of my other responsibilities include meeting facilitation. I also assist local nonprofits and private organizations with restoration projects in Northern Nevada, which involves fieldwork.
