Transcript

What do you enjoy most about being in your industry?

The thing that initially drew me to environmental consulting was my interest in policy, environmental sciences, and being able to communicate environmental concerns with the public. When you're working in the scientific world, it's often filled with jargon. Explaining scientific concepts to people who aren't as familiar with the topic is different than talking to another scientist.

That's what originally drew me to consulting because a lot of what we do is public disclosure. All of these documents we write are public record and need to be distributed for public comment. This means we have to describe things in a way that's digestible to anyone, regardless of their knowledge or experience.

That's something I really enjoy. I think it's an important service, especially as so many new projects are being proposed and developed across the country. It also keeps the work dynamic, as you're always looking for more input in partnership with agencies and clients.
