What is one lesson that you've learned that has proven significant in your career?

I think I just shared a lesson I got from one of my bosses previously. He talked about two things that are very important for any role, not just marketing: communication and expectation setting.

The way you work around that is by setting expectations on what you define as your goals. You work with your bosses to set expectations on what you can achieve and what you cannot achieve, given all the constraints you have. Then, you communicate your progress and your wins.

A person who does this well usually has a very good sense of what they are doing, why they are doing it, and what it takes to achieve success. I think that's why it's been a very valuable lesson for me. It's been like a boilerplate mantra for success.
