Favorite Parts Of Being A Chief Marketing Officer At Protecto
Shekar, Protecto's Chief Marketing Officer, most enjoys driving company growth, describing the process as "how do you make it 100 million today?". This involves strategic investment and storytelling to investors and the board, a process Shekar finds fulfilling despite the "pressure," which "helps you kind of see the value of your work".

What do you enjoy most about being in your current role?
The Chief Marketing Officer drives the company's growth. At the end of the day, the CMO is also the growth officer.
One thing I love is figuring out how to move to the "next lily pad," as I call it. If you're a $50 million company, how do you become a $100 million company? Currently, I'm focused on the "zero to one" phase, aiming to reach $1 million within 18 months or two years. Then we'll focus on becoming a $5 million company.
This role helps drive the company's growth, and it's an awesome experience. You understand your buyers, identify new channels to invest in, and then you grow.
Marketing is also fun because of the tactics involved. You meet people in different places, sometimes through physical one-on-one meetings and sometimes virtually, like conversations on a webinar. Understanding people, talking to them, and explaining the value proposition is a storytelling part, and that's also fun.
Another aspect I love is working with investors and the board. You tell the story about what the company is doing and its growth roadmap. There's always pressure, but sometimes pressure can be fun because it helps you see the value of your work.
Broadly, these are the three types of things that bring me the most fulfillment.
