What do you enjoy most about being in your role?
My role is incredibly fulfilling because I know that what I put into it, I will immediately get out of it, and other people will benefit from what I do. I know that what I'm doing supports the local economy by providing good jobs and a great service to businesses that need it.
It's incredible knowing this. At other jobs, I never really cared about, for example, selling cars. I was just helping myself; I would sell a car and get commission, but that doesn't fuel you as a human who wants to contribute. People want to know they're helping their community in some aspect.
When you start a small business, even as a sole proprietor, the work you do allows people to come into a wonderful environment to do their work. Or it allows a real estate owner to have their building stand out compared to others. You can look at what you did and see you accomplished something good.
You're not just moving numbers around on an Excel sheet. As AI becomes more capable of doing clerical or repetitive tasks, these types of service businesses will really stand apart in the future.
Ultimately, being able to make an impact and do good things is important. You can't continue operating a business without making a profit. A good business owner reinvests profit back into the business, puts a portion into the community, and saves the remainder to provide for their family in the future.
