What do you enjoy most about your role?
I'm public service oriented. What I enjoy most is knowing that there are real, tangible improvements I can make to people's lives through my work.
This is particularly true in areas where the market has no incentive to act. The government steps in to address these needs, which is the essence of public goods.
This includes things like transportation, libraries, and schools. I believe these are inherently good for people and society.
I've had the opportunity to work on these issues in a way that's unique to government's function. I haven't found that in any other sector.
