What does a day in the life of a senior writer and creative director look like?

Themed entertainment is largely project-based, especially when working for an agency. Your daily work depends on project lows and what you're currently involved in.

I might be working on one to five projects on any given day, depending on how many I have and their development stages. If a project is in the concept phase, I'm usually heavily involved.

If it's later in schematic or design, I'm less involved, primarily reviewing and providing approval. Some tasks I'm asked to do include writing treatments and conducting research and ideation.

Recently, a significant portion of my day has been dedicated to research. You're typically given an IP or subject matter to transform into an experience. To create an experience that appeals to fans of that IP or subject, you need extensive knowledge of it.

Essentially, you have to become an expert in the subject yourself. Therefore, on any given day, I'm doing a lot of research, writing, and ideation.
