It's important to understand the context of the projects you're working on. Talking to people and getting their perspectives is key. In my role, the work involves getting bills passed and communicating with lawmakers.
Lawmakers may not always understand the technology or economics behind an issue. This communication extends to regulators and shaping public opinion to rally behind a cause. Therefore, understanding the work from different perspectives is crucial.
Communicating with as many stakeholders as possible is really important. Additionally, having hard skills is essential. This includes understanding technologies in energy, whether specializing in solar, the grid, or renewables.
Having experience in electrical or mechanical engineering is beneficial. Data analytics skills are also important for any entry-level job. Understanding the business aspects of projects helps as well.
