Ryan, what do you enjoy most about being in the healthcare industry?

What I enjoy most about the healthcare industry is the undeniable impact you have on people. Every decision made in healthcare has downstream effects on a patient.

For example, if you're an engineer in healthcare and you make a medical device 10% cheaper, that saving can be passed on to the hospital. This can then lower insurance costs, making it more likely for patients, especially those with low income or difficulty paying, to get the care they need. Everything you do, on some level, has an impact.

I know some people in other industries sometimes question how much good they're doing. I've never really felt that with healthcare. Everything you do can help people.

Beyond that, because it involves helping people, the field attracts very devoted individuals who are motivated to make a difference. This has led me to meet fascinating, interesting, and caring people as colleagues. I've very much enjoyed working with them in healthcare.
