A Day In The Life Of A Senior Operations Coordination Engineer At Northeast Power Coordinating Council
A day as a Senior Engineer, Operations Coordination at Northeast Power Coordinating Council, Inc. is "very dynamic," involving diverse tasks such as developing system operator training, supporting emergency preparedness calls across five power systems, and assisting colleagues with real-time power system analysis including "low flow or voltage stability analysis." This highlights the crucial role the position plays in maintaining reliable power operations across northeastern North America.

What does a day in the life of your role look like?
It's very dynamic if you will; a lot of things can occur or change on the power system in northeastern North America. A normal day for me could involve helping prepare system operator training, to deliver and develop content for these system operators to maintain their NERC certification.
It could also involve facilitating or supporting an emergency preparedness call amongst the five independent operating power systems and their control room managers. Or, it could be helping other power system engineers, my colleagues, or engineers from these five other areas analyze and assess real-time power operating states. This includes low flow or voltage stability analysis, or any sort of load forecasting analysis.
All of these aspects contribute to the real-time operating conditions for the power system.
