What do you enjoy most about being in your industry?
My industry is really supportive, so there are a lot of external factors. These include weather, international situations, and high demand fluctuations.
We saw this a lot after the pandemic. The amount of freight that comes into this country is often very cyclical. It may come in a lot at one time, or there might not be much coming in at all.
The industry really recognizes the importance of collaboration. It's been really cool getting to know people in other companies, whether it's a railroad, a trucking company, an airline, or warehousing companies. Everybody has a common goal of trying to figure out how to do things simpler and more efficiently.
That type of collaboration is a lot of fun. Getting to know people throughout their career is fun, and seeing them, similar to my own employees, start in entry-level positions and then expand their careers throughout the industry is a lot of fun too.
