Favorite Parts of Being a Senior Project Manager at The Grupe Company

Rob, a Senior Project Manager at The Grupe Company, finds the most rewarding aspect of his role is contributing to projects that create lasting, tangible change within communities; the experience of seeing families enjoying a completed apartment community—which Rob had a significant role in developing—"fully leased up, families are living there, windows are open"—is a powerful example of this impact.

What do you enjoy most about being in your current role?

That's a question that can be difficult to answer. The most enjoyable part is having a hand in a project that will be stationary for pretty much ever.

You can say, "I did that," or "I had a hand in that." It's tangible; you can feel it. It changes the environment where people live, breathe, play, and work.

If you develop a good project that brings joy, you uplift the community. I know that sounds cheesy, but one thing that sticks in my mind was when I was at my family's company. We were working on a large apartment community.

I left the company before it was completed. Once it was finished, I drove over to the apartment community at night to see what it looked like. Walking around, it was fully leased up, and families were living there.

You could see families enjoying themselves, laughing, and having a good time in the community that you had a large part in bringing to life for about 1200 people. There are about 300 units there, so roughly a thousand to 1200 people live there.

You just see people having a great time and enjoying themselves. And then, you look at it and think, "Wow, this is beautiful." People get to drive by it and enjoy it, or live there and enjoy it. To say you had a part in that is probably one of the most enjoyable parts.
